Frances Irene (Ahlquist) Hoppes

Frances I. Hoppes, 94 of Springfield, passed away November 29, 2017 at Oakwood Village. Frances was born July 30, 1923 in Scarborough, Maine. She was the daughter of Carl “Toy” and Adelaide (Temm) Ahlquist.

Frances served in the U.S. Navy as a Ship’s Cook until her honorable discharge on May 6, 1946. While in Washington D.C., she met and later married Warren H. Hoppes who was in the U.S. Army. They were married 51 years.

Frances looked forward to her yearly visits to Maine. She loved her family and friends and took a great interest in their lives.

Survivors include her two children; Joyce (Michael) Mouser of Springfield and Robert (Judy) Hoppes of Scottsdale, AZ, siblings; Leon (Ann) Ahlquist and Robert(Kay)Ahlquist of Scarborough, ME, sisters-in-law; Kathy Hoppes of Springfield, Dagmar Ahlquist of Omaha, NE, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Warren H. Hoppes in 1997; siblings; Clarence Ahlquist and Althea Green of Scarborough, ME and Olaf Ahlquist of Lincoln, NE.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 9, 2017 from

10:30-11:00 AM at Ferncliff “Chapel” 501 West McCreight Ave., 45504. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM with

Rev. Ron Green officiating.
