Rev. Kay M Glaesner: 1915 - 2006
Rev. Kay Glaesner served in the U.S. Air Force for 10 years, reaching the rank of Colonel and receiving several medals for his actions during World War II.
He continued to serve in the Air Force Reserve for an additional 23 years and headed the Anti-Friction Bearing Department at
WAFB, where he consulted with industries and foundations in the United States and Europe.
After receiving his Masters of Theology from Wittenberg University in 1950, he spent the next 56 years devoted to ministry. Rev. Glaesner served 36 years at St. John's Lutheran Church in Springfield. He started the "Drive-in" church at the Melody and founded St. John's Mercy Center and the long term care facility for Alzheimer's at Oakwood Village.
Throughout his many years of active service to the community, Rev. Glaesner was involved in a variety of organizations including Kiwanis and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He served on numerous boards, including the YMCA, United Way and American Cancer Society.
Rev. Glaesner received the George Washington Freedom Award five times and was inducted into the Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame in 1991
Reverend Kay M. Glaesner died on Monday, December 11, 2006 at the age of 91.
Rev. Glaesner is buried in Section 37, Lot 1 at Ferncliff Cemetery.
