Christ Patsiavos: 1904 - 1994
Christ Patsiavos was in the shoe shine business from the age of 14. He moved into Springfield's landmark red boot-shaped shop in 1952, and continued his life's work until 1994.
A founding member of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. He recounts one of his fondest memories was in 1918, Mr. Harry Kissell, active in the local Republican party, brought in a friend to have his shoes shined by Christ. The other man was Teddy Roosevelt, and he gave Christ a big tip. This tip joined Christ's other savings which eventually allowed him to buy his first shoe repair shop in 1925.
Christ Patsiavos was interred in Section V of Ferncliff Cemetery.
