FAMOUS FOLKS AT FERNCLIFF
Dr. Bennetta D. Titlow: 1868 - 1946
Bennetta D. Titlow was born on Jan. 24, 1868 in Pennsylvania. She graduated from the Women's Medical College of
Philadelphia in 1891 and began her practice of medicine in Springfield, Ohio in 1892.
One of the first female doctors in the area, Dr. Titlow was instrumental in starting a Baby Health Camp, a public health center for the benefit of infants and children in need, located on Standpipe Hill.
During WWI, Dr. Titlow was a part of the Medical Corps, stationed in France. She continued her practice in Springfield after the war, until her death in 1946.
Dr. Titlow was a member of the Clark County Medical Association and American Medical Association, as well as the Altrusa Club.
Dr. Bennetta Titlow died on March 7, 1946 and is buried in Ferncliff Cemetery alongside her siblings.
