FAMOUS FOLKS AT FERNCLIFF
Henry Snyder: 1783 - 1869
Henry Snyder, his wife, Rachel, and their six children headed westward from Pennsylvania in search of new opportunities. They settled in the Dayton area in 1824 and Henry purchased several hundred acres of land in Clark County, along with a flour mill. The Snyder family later operated a distillery and continued to acquire real estate throughout the area.
Henry died on April 25, 1869 following a short illness. The Snyder children continued to make an impact in Springfield, Ohio and donated 217 acres of land along Buck Creek to the city in 1895 to be turned into the community resource now known as Snyder Park.
Henry Synder is buried in section E, Snyder Plot at Ferncliff Cemetery.
