The Ferncliff Funeral Home & Crematory, a separate business entity located on the grounds of Ferncliff Cemetery & Arboretum, permanently ceased operations as of August 31, 2022.  The Funeral Home & Crematory was established in 2016 to provide complementary services to the Ferncliff Cemetery & Arboretum. After careful consideration, the Ferncliff Funeral Home Board of Directors and Ferncliff’s Board of Trustees determined that the community would be better served by allocating resources to better support and enhance the Cemetery & Arboretum.

It is important to note that the closure of the Funeral Home & Crematory will in no way affect the operations of Ferncliff Cemetery & Arboretum. This closure will allow Ferncliff’s Board of Trustees to prioritize and promote investments in other projects, as well as Ferncliff’s service and relevance in our community. 

Ferncliff Cemetery & Arboretum Will Continue Operating in Perpetuity

Ferncliff Cemetery & Arboretum is an independent organization that will not be affected by the closure of the Ferncliff Funeral Home.  Ferncliff Cemetery & Arboretum was established in 1863. The Cemetery & Arboretum founders intentionally structured the organization and built a financial portfolio to ensure the longevity of this valued community resource, and to provide for its care in perpetuity.  The Cemetery & Arboretum is a valuable, historic landmark designed to be a lasting resource that will meet the community’s needs for future generations.

Existing Funeral Home Clients Will Be Served

Clients with pre-planned or pre-paid funeral or cremation services with Ferncliff Funeral Home have been notified of the closure. Arrangements have been made with a highly-respected local funeral home to fulfill and honor these contracts with dignity, respect and professionalism.
