About the Pet Cemetery
In 2018, Ferncliff cemetery opened a pet cemetery on their grounds to serve the community. As part of the Master Plan for Ferncliff Cemetery & Arboretum, the pet cemetery was renovated in 2025 with improvements to landscaping, accessibility and visitor experience.
Now named Whispering Memories Pet Haven, Ferncliff’s pet cemetery spans three acres in the southwest area of the cemetery, next to beautiful wildflower fields.
Future improvements to the grounds include a boulder sculpture to enhance the space in 2026.

The Whispering Memories Experience
The team at Ferncliff honors the bond between humans and their pets, and offers compassionate care for all families and visitors.
Pets of all kinds may call Whispering Memories Pet Haven their final resting place, most commonly dogs and cats. The pet cemetery offers traditional burial for animals up to 200 pounds, and burial of cremated remains regardless of an animal’s size. Certified service animals are eligible for free burial with proof of service.
The Pet Haven’s service team can help guide families through selection of markers, monuments, urns, caskets and vaults for their pets.
Families can also choose a funeral service, which includes a procession, shared memories, and a poetry reading followed by a meaningful final goodbye. Keepsakes such as a clay impression of a pet’s paw or a glass dove ornament are also available.
Visiting the Pet Haven
Ferncliff Cemetery and Arboretum, including Whispering Memories Pet Haven, is open to the public daily. Gates are open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the fall and winter and change to 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the spring and summer. Accessible parking is located directly adjacent to the pet cemetery grounds.
Enjoy a serene walk through the grounds, located near section 50, and observe the beautiful wildflower garden nearby. Leashed dogs are welcome to visit the Pet Haven with their human companions.
